FACE FEAR

A human being lives in fear. The rich and poor carry on their lives in the midst of fear. People leave, out of fear; they stay, out of fear.
Generally they run away from fear.
If they face fear, one-on-one, without anything else distracting them, the roots of fear can be seen.
The good news can be - these roots are false.

What to study?

To study this book, that teacher or some system is secondary. The essence of all the wisdom they convey is that you are the student and you are the subject to be studied.
Your behaviour has volumes to read.
Your reactions are more fascinating that any mystery book.
Your emotions are more interesting than any movie.
Your pride and prejudice beat Jane Austin's work.
Your long story of hope, ambition, success and failure challenge Kalidasa's depictions.
So study yourself. Ask, "Who am I?"

HEAL YOURSELF

The world and you have an intimate relationship. If you are all right, the world will be fine too. If you are sick, everything and everybody in the world seems to cause pain to you.
So heal yourself.
Give up all sorrow from your heart. Let go of memories of hurt. Equally so should be the case of your pride and conceit.
Personal likes and dislikes are one set of viruses that need to be eliminated. Be objective.
Strong habitual urges are another set of viruses; remove them by being alert in the present moment.
Being watchful here and now is the essence of the QUICK HEAL antivirus program that you need to install in the system called daily living.
Be fit. Be happy.

Guru Purnima Greetings

Removal of Darkness is the implication of Gu-Ru.
Will it go just by repeating words?
Will it go by even "appreciating and enjoying" the words of scriptures?
The self (ego) remains strong, if our appreciation is of just literary beauty such as the language construction and philosophical imagery.
We must inquire what a scriptural revelation MEANS, and how it can affect the way we see life.
LIVING THE TEACHINGS, following their implication in full measure, is the true tribute to the great teachers.
Then darkness leaves us.

Live Intelligently

Education is the ability to perceive
the hidden connections between phenomena.
- Vaclav Havel

Living intelligently involves integration
of thought, word and deed.
We must unify head and heart.
It does not mean being just intellectual,
talking of big stuff
but living in contradictions.

Do not divide life

We may close the doors to our rooms and feel that nobody knows our thoughts, but what we do in so-called privacy affects the life around us.
VIMALA THAKAR
